Terms of Service
Effective date: 15 May 2026
1. About these Terms
These Terms apply when you access or use UniBookTrader, including the website at unibooktrader.com.au, your account, listings, orders, payments, pickup, delivery, and support services.
By using UniBookTrader, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, our Safety Guidelines, and our Condition Guide.
2. Who operates UniBookTrader
UniBookTrader is an Australian textbook marketplace operated from Sydney, New South Wales. References to "UniBookTrader", "we", "us", or "our" mean the person or business operating the UniBookTrader website and service.
Contact: contact@unibooktrader.com.au.
3. What UniBookTrader does
UniBookTrader helps students buy and sell used university textbooks without arranging in-person meetups. Sellers submit textbooks for review. Approved listings are shown with condition-based prices. Buyers pay through Stripe checkout. We coordinate pickup from the seller and delivery to the buyer, and orders include a check-on-arrival step before completion.
UniBookTrader is not a university, publisher, financial institution, legal adviser, tax adviser, or courier company. Courier services and payment services are provided by third-party providers.
4. Eligibility and accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding agreement.
- You must provide accurate account, contact, pickup, delivery, and payout information.
- You are responsible for keeping your email account secure. UniBookTrader uses email sign-in links; treat those links like passwords and do not share them.
- You must not use UniBookTrader for unlawful, misleading, fraudulent, harmful, or abusive activity.
5. Seller obligations
- You must own the book or have authority to sell it.
- You must submit accurate photos of the actual book, accurate condition information, and the correct ISBN and edition.
- You must disclose major wear, damage, missing pages, water damage, writing, highlighting, and any other issue that would matter to a buyer.
- You must disclose whether any one-time access code or supplement, such as MyLab, Connect, MindTap, WileyPLUS, CD, DVD, workbook, or insert, is included and whether it has been used.
- You must not list stolen goods, counterfeit books, instructor-only editions, exam answer keys, solution manuals, unauthorised copies, or anything you do not have the right to sell.
- You must make the book available for pickup as arranged. If pickup details change, contact us promptly.
6. Listing review and removal
We may approve, reject, edit, hide, withdraw, or remove listings where we believe the listing is inaccurate, incomplete, unsafe, unlawful, unsuitable, or inconsistent with UniBookTrader's policies. Approval of a listing does not guarantee that a buyer will purchase the book.
7. Buyer obligations
- You must review the listing, condition, edition, ISBN, price, and delivery details before checkout.
- You must pay only through the Stripe checkout linked from UniBookTrader.
- You must provide accurate delivery details and be contactable around delivery.
- When the book arrives, you must check it promptly against the listing photos and condition. If something is materially wrong, report it before the check-on-arrival window closes.
8. Pricing, payments, delivery, and tax
- Book prices are set by condition according to UniBookTrader's pricing model and may change over time.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. UniBookTrader does not store full card numbers.
- Delivery is included only where the checkout page or listing says it is included. Launch offers may change or end.
- Unless stated otherwise at checkout, GST is not shown separately for individual seller listings. Sellers are responsible for their own tax obligations.
- Courier scheduling may be manual during launch. Delivery timing estimates are not guarantees.
9. Order completion, buyer issues, and seller payout
- An order is not finalised until the buyer confirms the delivered book matches the listing, the check-on-arrival window expires without a reported issue, or UniBookTrader makes an administrative decision after reviewing the order.
- Seller payout is processed only after order completion and after any required checks. Payout timing may depend on payment processor timing, bank processing, identity checks, and dispute review.
- If a buyer reports a problem, UniBookTrader may pause completion and seller payout while we investigate.
- Possible outcomes include completing the order, asking for more evidence, arranging return, issuing a refund, partial refund, replacement where available, or another fair resolution.
- Changed mind, finding a cheaper copy elsewhere, or minor wear already allowed by the selected condition are not, by themselves, grounds for rejection.
10. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, remedy, or protection that cannot be excluded, restricted, or modified under the Australian Consumer Law or any other applicable law.
Where UniBookTrader supplies services to a consumer, those services will be supplied with due care and skill, be reasonably fit for their disclosed purpose where applicable, and be supplied within a reasonable time where no time is agreed, as required by law.
11. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, UniBookTrader is not liable for indirect, special, incidental, or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of opportunity, or loss caused by events outside our reasonable control. Where liability cannot be excluded but can be limited, our liability is limited to re-supplying the relevant service, paying the cost of re-supplying the relevant service, or the amount paid for the relevant order, as permitted by law.
12. User content and intellectual property
You keep ownership of photos, notes, and other content you submit. You give UniBookTrader a non-exclusive licence to use that content to operate the service, review listings, display listings, support orders, resolve issues, and keep business records. We will use listing photos for marketing or examples only where you have given the optional marketing consent or where the content has been sufficiently de-identified.
UniBookTrader's name, branding, website content, software, and design are owned by UniBookTrader or its licensors. You must not copy, misuse, scrape, reverse engineer, or interfere with the service except as allowed by law.
13. Suspension and cancellation
We may suspend or close an account, reject a listing, cancel an order, delay payout, or restrict access where we reasonably believe there is misuse, fraud, safety risk, repeated inaccurate listings, non-compliance with these Terms, or a legal requirement to do so.
14. Privacy
We handle personal information as described in our Privacy Policy. You must not submit personal information about another person unless you have authority to do so.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will take reasonable steps to notify users through the website, email, or account notices. The updated Terms apply from the effective date shown on the page.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. You and UniBookTrader submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales and the Commonwealth courts of Australia.
17. Contact
Questions, support requests, and dispute information can be sent to contact@unibooktrader.com.au.
